Dr. Ebun Ladipo Bamgboye, MBBS, FWACP, FRCP, FNAN, FISN, is the Clinical Director of St. Nicholas Hospital and one of Nigeria’s foremost consultant physicians and nephrologists. With over three decades of distinguished clinical, academic, and leadership experience, he has played a pivotal role in advancing kidney care, dialysis, and renal transplantation in Nigeria and across Sub-Saharan Africa. Since joining St. Nicholas Hospital in 1998, Dr. Bamgboye has been instrumental in transforming the hospital into a leading centre for nephrology and transplant medicine. As Head of the Dialysis and Renal Transplant Unit, he has overseen the growth of one of Nigeria’s most respected and comprehensive dialysis programmes, attracting patient referrals from across Nigeria and internationally. Under his leadership, St. Nicholas Hospital’s renal transplant programme, Nigeria’s pioneering kidney transplant centre, has successfully performed over 500 successful kidney transplants, setting the benchmark for transplant care in the region. As Clinical Director, Dr. Bamgboye provides strategic clinical leadership, championing excellence in patient care, quality improvement, medical governance, and multidisciplinary collaboration. A recognised leader within the medical community, Dr. Bamgboye is a Past President of both the Nigerian Association of Nephrology and the Transplant Association of Nigeria. He also serves on several national and international committees dedicated to advancing nephrology and transplantation, where he contributes to policy development, medical education, and healthcare capacity building across Africa. His professional distinctions include Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP), Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians, London (FRCP), Fellowship of the Nigerian Association of Nephrology (FNAN), and Fellowship of the International Society of Nephrology (FISN). He is widely regarded as one of the leading authorities in transplant nephrology in Africa.
