Dr Owen Woghiren MBBS FRCP

Dr Owen Woghiren is a UK trained and certified consultant gastroenterologist. He trained in gastroenterology and endoscopy at notable London teaching hospitals including, Hammersmith Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster hospital, St Mary‘s hospital as well as several other London hospitals. He obtained a certificate of completion of specialist training (CCT) in gastroenterology and general internal medicine in 2009 so is dually accredited in general internal medicine.
He also received accreditation in endoscopy in 2009 from the joint advisory group (JAG).

He is currently based at the Barnet and Chase Farm hospital, part of the Royal free NHS foundation hospital group where he is currently the lead clinician for gastroenterology and endoscopy services as well as lead for endoscopy training.
He specialises in endoscopy, luminal gastroenterology & general hepatology.

His subspecialty interests include gut infections such as Helicobacter pylori, bloating and bacterial overgrowth, heartburn and dyspepsia, Iron deficiency anaemia, acute and occult gastrointestinal bleeding, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Dr Woghiren also performs advanced endoscopy, diagnostic and therapeutic, gastrointestinal cancer screening, diagnosis and management. He also has an interest in general hepatology; fatty liver diseases, cirrhosis, viral hepatology and autoimmune liver conditions

He is a very experienced endoscopist with over 20 years of experience performing a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as upper GI endoscopy (gastroscopy) colonoscopy, polypectomy, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)

Dr Owen Woghiren consults at the St. Nicholas Hospital Clinics, Victoria island Lagos where he has regular Gastroenterology clinics and Endoscopy sessions.
