Dr. Olugbenga Adewale Omonije M.B.B.S
Dr. Olugbenga Omonije obtained his primary medical qualification MBBS from University of Ilorin in January 1994. Upon completion of the mandatory NYSC in 1996, he moved to South Africa where he was employed as a medical officer with the Mpumalanga provincial government at the Carolina Hospital, a position that exposed him to actively participate in both major and minor surgical procedures, and induction and maintenance of theatre patients under general anesthesia.
It was in this health facility that he developed a passion for emergency medicine and proceeded to work at the Chris Hani Baragwaneth Hospital in Soweto, Johannesburg in the year 2000, where he was employed as a casualty officer.
During his 4 year stint at the trauma unit of the hospital, Dr Omonije horned his skills in caring for acutely ill and injured patients in this priority 1- setting. He became certified in both advanced trauma life support (ATLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS). He also has a diploma in Primary emergency care (Dip PEC).
In the year 2004, he joined the medi-clinic group as an emergency room physician. He has over 20 years’ experience in priority 1 Emergency environment.
He is the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Accident & Emergency at St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos from November 2016 till date. His special interest is in Emergency Medical Care, healthcare Performance optimization and improving patient safety in hospitals. He is happily married with three children and his hobbies includes travelling and road running.
